Questions members ask

Is my contribution tax deductible?
ACO holds 501(c)(3) tax exempt status in the United States. Contributions from US taxpayers are deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a receipt for your records. Please confirm your specific situation with your tax advisor.
Can I cancel or change my monthly amount?
Yes, at any time and without explanation. Your giving should fit your life. You can adjust or stop a recurring contribution directly through your confirmation email or by contacting us.
Do I have to live in Ouanaminthe or Haiti?
No. Most of our members live in the United States, Canada or Europe. Membership is open to anyone born in Ouanaminthe, descended from Ouanaminthais, or simply a friend of the town who shares our values.
How much of my money reaches Ouanaminthe?
ACO is run by volunteers. We keep overhead deliberately low and we report on program spending to members. If you want the detail before you give, ask us and we will send it.
What is the difference between a monthly tier and Regular Membership?
The monthly tiers are giving levels. Regular Membership at $240 per year is the governing level, which carries voting rights, committee participation and eligibility for leadership. If you want a say in decisions, choose Regular Membership.
